It is with great sadness that I report the death of a good friend, Norma Garbert. Norma passed away on Sunday, September 12. She had been in hospice care and her family brought her home to care for her. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Services will be private.
Norma was a member of the Don Jose de Ortega Chapter, where she held many offices and was Chapter Regent for two terms. She also served on several committees: American Heritage, American History, Chapter Achievement, Community Service Award and American Indian.
Norma was also a member of several other heritage groups in which she served as chapter and state officer. She was Division President of United Daughters of the Confederacy and of Dames of the Court of Honor.
Norma loved Genealogy and had 15 Revolutionary War patriots. She was a speaker and many will remember Norma's wonderful programs. She also wrote several Family History books and articles. She always made herself available to assist someone with researching their ancestors and in the application process.
Norma leaves behind her husband Ed, daughters Lynn and Sue and several grandchildren. We will all miss Norma. Condolences can be sent to the Garbert Family 22009 Liggett Street, Chatsworth, Ca 91311-5721.
