The Conejo Valley Chapter has been involved with the Veterans Home of California-Ventura since the ground breaking in June, 2007. The home is a Residential Care for Elderly (RCFE) facility with 60 beds for Veterans who require some degree of medical assistance but are still ambulatory. The chapter has helped procure exercise equipment which is available to all residents and used this facility to begin their collection of interviews of Veterans for the Library of Congress Veterans History Project interviewing more that 15 of the residents.
For the holiday season the chapter donates and decorates a Christmas tree and a Menorah. Currently members are volunteering two days a week selling miscellaneous and sundry items from the "Ship Store" at the home.
Service for Veterans Committee Chair Lolita Smith is pictured presenting a camera to Lynda Griffin and Delsie Anthony, staff members of the home on July 25, 2012. The camera will be used for the many field trips and special events provided to the Vets.
