Chatsworth Chapter Celebrates Its 14th Birthday
Kathleen Schwartzman Chatsworth Chapter Secretary, Pamela Meyers
District VIII Assistant Director, Mary Brown State Parliamentarian, Sassy
Johnson Chatsworth Chapter Treasurer, and Sandra Orozco State Chaplain
On December 15, at the home
of member Ann Vincent, Chatsworth Daughters celebrated our birthday. With the
holiday festivities and pot luck luncheon, we had the joy of being with other
State Officers and Chapter Regents. Debbie Jamison was unable to attend after a
fall that broke her ankle. Our honored guests were Sandra Orozco State
Chaplain, Mary Brown State Parliamentarian, Nancy Kilbourn District VIII
Director, Francis Hall District Vlll Secretary, Sue Ellen Hollahan District
VIII Historian, Barbara Randall District VIII Registrar, and Marilyn Look
Conejo Valley Regent.
The Program on the Bells of
El Camino Real was artfully presented by Ray Vincent husband of our hostess Ann.
It was amazing to learn that the road was preserved by the diligence of women’s
organizations. The idea of placing a
marker along the highway and in front of each Mission did not come about until
August 15, 1906 when a cast iron 85 pound bell and piping designed by Mrs.
A.S.C. Forbes was placed into the ground at the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora Reina
de Los Angeles, also known as the Plaza Church near Union Depot in Los
Angeles.
