Some DO’s and DONT’s to keep in mind:
  • Do be prepared to work hard. All jobs are equally important
  • Do work only on the float or job you are assigned to.
  • Do be prepared to get grimy. WEAR OLD CLOTHES (layers recommended for comfort). Bring an old sweater or jacket, as sometimes it can get very cold
  • Do plan on staying a minimum of four hours.
  • Don't sightsee around the float building
  • Don't be wasteful of any decoration materials
  • Don't refuse to do a job
  • Don't bring any valuables with you.
  • Don't take any flowers.
  • Do bring your own lunch, drinks, etc. There are vendors selling lunch items, but they are expensive and lines are long
  • Do bring a blanket and/or folding chairs for your breaks
  • Do bring your own scissors (labeled), and other cutting tools. Tie with a string around your neck.
  • Ages 13 and older are allowed on scaffolding. Children 11 - 12 may decorate in other areas. Family and friends are invited as long as they are there to work, and have fun as well.
  • If possible, wear a name tag to identify you as a C.A.R. member. There will be members throughout the state looking for you.
  • There are no storage areas for your sweaters, jackets, purses, etc.
  • Radios and Ipods are not permitted. use cell phones outside the float building, as they interfere with the communication system.
