The Sons of Liberty Chapter, California Society Sons of the American Revolution, sponsored the 25th Annual George Washington Commemorative Massing of the Colors and Salute to Our Armed Forces on 17 February 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.

Our own State Regent, Anne Lampman brought greetings from the DAR.

In honor of George Washington’s birthday, a wreath was laid at the foot of his statue. At the end of the ceremony, each Color Guard paid its respect as it left the staging area.

Believe it or not, for the past 25 years these cannons have been fired towards the North Church, and fortunately, they have never hit a window!

What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours honoring the Father of our Country! If you missed it, you missed a truly moving experience. Keep an eye out for next year’s celebration.
