News From the American Heritage Committee - S.O.S.

I received the following message from the American Heritage Committee National Vice Chairman, Quilter's S.O.S., this morning via the DARlings email list. I know that many of your out there are quilters, and I thought you might be interested in this worthwhile project.
Ladies,

Karen Musgrave [Ed. Note: Chairman of Quilter's S.O.S.] announced yesterday that Quilters' S.O.S. - Save Our Stories had posted the 700th interview of a quiltmaker! The interviewee is Sylvain Bergeron. He is French Canadian, now American citizen, who is changing the quilt world with his embroidery.

It's a great interview.

DAR was invited to be a part of Q.S.O.S. in 2001 when members of the Q.S.O.S.Task Force presented a workshop at Continental Congress. Since that event, DAR members have contributed 69 of the 700 total interviews.

Last year on April 27th Q.S. O. S. reached 600 so it took just a little more than 10 months to add 100 interviews. Of these last 100 interviews, DAR ladies have proudly contributed 28 interviews.

Ladies, search for quiltmakers in you communities and interview them using the format set up by Q.S.O. S. Join in this on-going Q.S.O.S. project of The Alliance of American Quilts. E-mail Karen Musgrave, Chair of Q.S.O.S.at KarenMusgrave@sbcglobal.net.

Tell her your state, DAR chapter, and your zip code. Karen will assign your ID number. When you have your ID, I will e-mail a packet of all the directions to you. Get started today.

Interviews completed by April 1st count for this DAR year! After April 1st your interviews will have a jump start on next year. Be a part of this oral history project.
