When you visit the NSDAR Members' Web Site, do you ever click on the "Research" link? Have you wondered how that information got in the database? If so, you can thank the members of the Descendants Project data entry team!
An update from DAR Genealogy Preservation Committee National Chairman, Danna Koelling:
We started data entering in October 2004 with over 1.2 million applications to do. As of February 29, 2008, we have entered over 431,00 applications (twice)and certified most of them to be uploaded to the research site. Over 1,000 volunteers worked on the project between March 1, 2007 and yesterday. You entered the lineage of 167,000 applications during this past year.So you can see that YOUR help is still needed for this very valuable project!
There are still approximately 775,000 applications to enter. If every active DAR member would enter just 4.5 applications in the next year we would complete the project. So bring a fellow member to this wonderful team.
If you'd like to participate, please visit the DAR Genealogy Preservation Committee's web site and click on "Contact Us."
You can do this job from the comfort of your own home in your PJ's with your favorite cup of coffee - all you need is a computer!
