At the May 15, 2008 chapter meeting, Don Jose de Ortega chapter member Betty-Jeanne "Bee Jay" Farmer was presented with a NSDAR Community Service Award certificate and pin for her 30 years of volunteer service to the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works.
