Beth Jessen presents this beautiful quilt to lucky recipient, Mr. Cruz.
During their monthly meeting on September 6, 2008, at the Tehachapi Veteran’s Hall, the winning ticket for the Tomo-Kahni Chapter's 2008 Quilt was selected. This was done by a guest who did not have any vested interest. The name of Mr. R. Cruz was selected.
Chapter vice president Jayne Scardello called Mr. Cruz that day to notify him that had the winning ticket. Later, they called Mr. Cruz to ask if, instead of mailing him the quilt, they could deliver it in person and get a photo, since one of their chapter members was going to be in Bakersfield.
That was agreeable, and they met on September 10th in the parking lot of IHOP. Mr. Cruz had been having a late breakfast with his wife and daughter on his wife’s day off. He has a lovely family!
So please meet the winner, Mr. R. Cruz, with his lovely quilt, and Beth Jessen, the chapter officer who delivered it!
