Children of the American Revolution
District VIII

On
Friday, December 28th, members, family and friends of the California State
Society Children of the American Revolution, gathered at a warehouse to
help decorate Rose Parade floats. We worked on several floats, including
the
Disney Cars float, China Air, and the Wisconsin and Stanford Team floats.
We cut flowers, glued on leaves, seeds, and other floral items throughout
the day. At lunch, Tamara Dorneman led a C.A.R. Meeting. The meeting
opened with prayer, in a very crowded area, and included the
recitation
of the American's Creed, and the C.A.R. Creed. As we began to say
"The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag," and sing The Star
Spangled Banner,
a hush fell over the loud and noisy crowd. People began to stand, hats
removed, and hands placed over hearts. At the conclusion of our song,
we
were given a loud and welcome applause. It was truly a defining moment, for
us all, of the pride we feel in our C.A.R. societies, and in our country.
Happy New Year to all from the California State Society, Children of
