Jane Stauss Receives Community Service Award

Jane Stauss received a Community Service Award at the October 2008 meeting of the Don Jose de Ortega Chapter.

Jane has been volunteering at the Motion Picture and Television Campus for 26 years. Over the years, she has done many projects. She has been president for 3 years and held several other positions on the board for about 14 years.

She is a Registered Occupational Therapist and taught an exercise class to the residents for several years. She also worked with the residents in ceramic and craft classes. She served on the Birthday Decorating Committee, where they made decorations for the monthly birthday celebrations. She also worked year-round getting the decorations ready for over 25 Christmas trees that were placed around the campus. That included taking the trees down and storing the ornaments. She helped decorate several Wheelchair Parade floats for Halloween. She served as Theatre Hostess and helped with sound and lighting for stage presentations at the large theater on campus. She has served as Newsletter Coordinator and Docent for off facility hikes (nature and bird watching).

She is currently Library Coordinator for the County House Library. This is the main library for the residents. She checks books in and out and orders new books and magazines for the library.

Currently Jane has 9,000 hours donated to the Motion Picture and Television Fund which runs the facility.

Thanks to Hazel Price for this submission.
